Vega Radiation Based Density Measurement Sensors
In radiometric, i.e. radiation-based, level measurement, a slightly radioactive isotope emits focused gamma rays.
The sensor, which is mounted on the opposite side of the vessel, receives this radiation.
Since gamma rays are attenuated when penetrating matter, the sensor can calculate level, point level, density or mass flow from the intensity of the incoming radiation.
The advantages
- Maximum operational reliability even in the harshest environments
- Measurement is independent of pressure, temperature and product aggressiveness
- Measuring system can be installed on the outside of a vessel during ongoing production
MINITRAC 31 – Radiation-based Sensor for Density Measurement
Description & Features
Application area:
Density measurement of liquids and bulk solids
The MINITRAC 31 is a radiation-based sensor for non-contact density measurement of liquids and bulk solids. The MINITRAC 31 determines the density, without contact, externaly through pipelines or the vessel wall. Through its compact design it is ideal for mounting in positions hard to access and in narrow space applications.

VEGA Official WebsiteVEGA Multi-Point Density Array
Description & Features
VEGA offers the Multi-Point Density Array (MDA) solution for fixed-point interface profiling measurements. Providing high resolution and an unparalleled method of measuring interfaces, especially those with emulsion layers, the MDA operates reliably in the most difficult of applications.
The MDA was developed around the non-contact, radiation-based measurement principle. This principle is used to employ multiple, independent density measurement points that provide accurate and repeatable density information across the measurement span of the vessel. The system is customized per application for vessel size and configuration, process characteristics, number of interfaces, and resolution.
